Former Indian cricketer and renowned commentators Aakash Chopra lauded Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan for his impressive knock against Bangladesh on Wednesday in Lahore during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
The right-hander scored an unbeaten 63 off 79 balls and helped Pakistan chase down the 194-run target in 39.3 overs.
"Mohammad Rizwan - I like this player a lot. He is a warrior and he keeps fighting. The more pressure you put on him, the more he flourishes. Whether you play him in T20Is, ODIs or Tests, somehow whenever Pakistan are struggling, it brings the best out of him,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
"Here also he stayed till the end and won them the match. He played very good sweeps and danced down the wicket to hit over cover. He plays spin extremely well and he has a very good pick-up shot against fast bowling. So, Mohammad Rizwan is actually a very, very good player,” the former cricketer added.
Pakistan, who beat Bangladesh by seven wickets in their first Super 4 match, will now play arch-rivals India in Colombo on September 10 (Sunday).
If the remaining Super 4 matches are washed out, due to poor weather in Colombo, Pakistan will qualify for the final with four points.
In case of washouts, Sri Lanka and India will be tied on three points each, along with the same Net Run Rate, which is why a coin toss will be done to determine which team will play the final.
Bangladesh will only have two points, since they have already lost one game in the Super Four, in case of washouts and thus will not be in the race for the final.
The trophy will be shared if the final is also washed out on September 17.
